About Erin Alexander / Akofa Oyin

For over 30 years, Erin Alexander, also known as Akofa Oyin, has worked in ecological design, cultural knowledge, and spiritual ecology. She is an initiated Iyalocha of 22 years and a Master Feng Shui Consultant, combining ancestral wisdom with environmental practice to help people reconnect with land, spirit, and place.

Erin is the founder of Funki Shui Design, where she blends Feng Shui, geomancy, and African Diaspora spiritual traditions to create spaces that support wellbeing, balance, and sustainability. Her work explores how environments shape our lives—from our homes to the land around us.

Through Funki Shui, she also creates plant-based products, educational tools, and resources that bring sacred ecology into everyday life, rooted in herbal knowledge, spiritual practice, and simple design principles.

Erin created Nature Connect, an environmental education program that teaches students and families about nature through stories, plants, and hands-on learning, connecting science with cultural knowledge.

She also founded the Orisha Network for Issues on Land + Environment, which explores how African Diaspora traditions connect to environmental care through plant knowledge, land practices, and community-based solutions.

Throughout her career, Erin has led programs, spoken at conferences, and developed curriculum across sustainability and renewable energy. Her work in Washington, DC helped advance early community solar efforts, contributing to a growing movement that now supports community solar projects across the United States.

At the heart of her work is a simple idea: every place holds meaning and possibility. When design, culture, and ecology come together, they support both people and the Earth.

“My mission is to restore balance between Earth and spirit through sacred design, nature education, healing products, and environmental advocacy.”
